Demystifying OCD for Clinicians
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a complex and often misunderstood condition that requires specialized training and education to properly identify and treat. This course (approximately 2 hours and 20 mins) offers a clear, digestible introduction to OCD and its gold-standard treatment, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). We cover the core features of OCD, including obsessions, compulsions, triggers and core fears that go beyond common stereotypes. We also provide an overview of OCD subtypes, helping clinicians recognize how symptoms can present differently across clients. You will gain foundational knowledge of ERP and how it is utilized to break the OCD cycle. Through real-world case vignettes representing diverse OCD presentations, clinicians will get hands-on practice with identifying the key components of OCD and see examples of how ERP can be used to treat different OCD presentations.
By the end of this course, you will be able to:

- Understand the learning goals of ERP and how it is used to break the OCD cycle.
- Apply the foundations of OCD and ERP to case vignettes that portray various OCD subtypes.
